The Points Standard is an independent editorial publication. This page explains how we may earn money and — more importantly — how we prevent that from influencing what we recommend.
Current status:as of this update, The Points Standard has no live affiliate or referral links anywhere on the site — every “Apply” link and issuer link goes straight to the issuer with no referral tracking attached, and we earn nothing from them today.
How we may be compensated
Some links to credit card products on this site may become referral links in the future, meaning we may receive compensation if you're approved for a card through them. We may also earn revenue from newsletter sponsorships, clearly marked as such. When any monetized link goes live, this disclosure will be updated, and a short version of it will be surfaced directly on the pages carrying those links (card reviews, rankings, and comparisons) — not just here.
What compensation never does
- It never determines a card's Standard Score or its position in any ranking.
- It never removes a strong card from a list because the issuer doesn't pay us.
- It never changes a verdict, a “who should skip it” note, or a point valuation.
Scores are assigned before monetization decisions are made, and the full component breakdown is published on every card page so you can check our math.
Accuracy
Card details change frequently. We record a source URL and last-reviewed date on every card record, but you should always confirm current terms, fees, and offers on the issuer's website before applying. Product information on this site is not reviewed or endorsed by card issuers.
